Bean & pea seeds — the rewarding, soil-enriching legumes

Beans and peas are among the most rewarding crops you can grow — heavy croppers that, as legumes, even enrich the soil with nitrogen as they go. This collection gathers the whole peas and beans family from across our vegetable seed range. New to growing? Our vegetable growing guide covers the basics.

Most beans and peas have clear sowing windows — the calendar shows when.

From peas to runner beans

Sow sweet peas early in the cool of spring; follow with green and French beans once it's warm, choosing quick bush types or tall climbers for a long crop from a small space.

Growing legumes from seed

Peas like it cool and are among the first crops sown; beans are tender and wait for warm soil after frost. Give climbers their supports early, keep the roots moist once flowering, and pick often — the more you harvest, the more they produce.

Planning the plot? Here's where to look next.

Popular vegetable categories: Peas & Beans · Green Beans · Peas · Climbing Beans · Bush Beans

At SeedsChoice, every order ships from Meppel, NL with fast, tracked EU delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do beans and peas really enrich the soil?
Yes — as legumes they fix nitrogen at their roots, feeding the soil as they grow.

When do I sow peas versus beans?
Peas like it cool and go in early; beans are tender and wait for warm soil after frost.

Bush or climbing?
Bush types crop in a quick flush with no support; climbers crop for longer from a small footprint.

Do they need much feeding?
Very little — focus on watering and regular picking.

How do I get more pods?
Pick often — the more you harvest, the more the plants produce.
